The paintings in this section are subjects that inspired me to get out my brushes. Some are related to fond memories, others simply subjects that engross me, and yet others simply to see "if I could", as they were out of my comfort zone. It's always good to take a break from working on animals and pet portraits to avoid getting lazy and in a rut. It helps to open my mind to new possibilities and to view subjects from a different perspective. Progress may be slow, but each time there is a small step or realisation that can helps me on my way, even if its simply that it didn't work! I just keep going keep going till it does work. Quite often it is on the second, third or even fourth attemp that I break through, and even then maybe not in the way I envisioned. What I learn I can then carry on through to my first love, painting animals.
